About Me

Who am I in a nutshell?

I used to spend my time being adventurous, traveling the world and avoiding making important life decisions while eating way too much mayonnaise for anyone’s liking. I grew up in Canada but at various points in my life I have lived in the Bahamas, Luxembourg, Hong Kong, South Korea, Australia and now the UK. (I’m still trying to figure out where to go next!)

I’ve always written to capture my thoughts and memories, my journeys and experiences, what I’ve learned along the way. I used to fill my friends’ and family’s inboxes with long-winded emails about what I was up to whilst gallivanting the globe. (And not the boring email types…the fun, laugh-out-loud types that I’m still not sure if it was more for my entertainment of theirs!)

Then I moved to the UK with my partner (and travel companion!) to teach in a school for ‘just a year’…and somehow ended up with a mortgage and being pregnant with twins! (This is the point when the globe-trotting emails came to an abrupt halt!)

Being a mother to twins threw me in the deep-end of the world of being a parent. Naturally, my whole world (and lifestyle) changed and it has been one steep, yet exciting, learning curve. I could use my personal knowledge, experience as well as research to delve into the world of parenting or traveling because, quite honestly, I know a lot about it and it does lie at the heart of my passions…but, for some reason, I haven’t taken this direction with my writing. (Yet!)

Why do I have a passion for wellbeing, personal growth and lifestyle?

Being a parent, I soon realised that you need to be able to take care of yourself and feel good about yourself before you can be the best for your family. We are constantly learning (and teaching) as we go through life, and only through applying what we learn can we build the lifestyle that we truly want and feel confident, comfortable and happy with who we are.

In my 10+ years of teaching, I have always put a focus on developing the self, building the foundations for better mental, physical and spiritual health as we grow.

The importance of taking care of yourself so that you can help others is what got me so interested and enthusiastic about yoga, meditation and mindfulness, personal growth and overall personal wellness. Writing about it helps me share what I have learned (and am still learning!) along the way.

I am also a certified NLP (Neurolinguistics Programming) practitioner and a certified Reiki practitioner. A few years ago, my passion for writing, wellbeing and self-development inspired me to further my interest in writing professionally. I took courses and used my experience and expertise in order to turn my personal interests and passions into a professional career to share it with the wider world.

If my writing gets valuable content out to audiences around the world, while at the same time furthers someone’s business, it’s a win-win!

Yes, I also have a blog!

I got so passionate about personal growth and wellness that I decided to start a blog around the idea of ‘uncluttering life‘ as a whole so that we have more space for the good stuff. I whole-heartedly believe that we need to get rid of the BS in life that takes up valuable time, space and energy so that we have more time for the things that truly matter to us. Feel free to have a browse! www.unclutternutter.com (Just remember, I’m a writer – not a web designer!)

Doing all these things in life has kept me busy (and on the cusp of sanity at times) but has also broadened my experiences, both personally and professionally, more than I could have ever imagined. There is never a shortage of something to write about! And I know my life is filled with the things that matter to me.

Hopefully now you have a little more understanding of who I am and why I do what I do! One thing’s for sure, my love for mayonnaise has not dwindled.
